JUNZO, BLACK GOLD KYUSU:
A unique and unconventional piece with a grainy earthen texture.
This uniquely crafted round teapot is made in one of Junzo's signature styles called kurokinsai (黒金彩 - black gold), featuring sparkling gold atop a matte black background. The overall impression is somehow both rustic and luxurious. The interior of the kyusu remains unglazed.
Being a fully hand-made item capacity may vary slightly, as no two pieces are the same.

Ein einzigartiges und unkonventionelles Stück mit einer körnigen, erdigen Textur.
Diese äußerst schöne runde Teekanne ist in einem von Junzos charakteristischen Stilen namens kurokinsai (黒金彩 - Schwarzgold) gefertigt, mit funkelndem Goldfarbe auf einem mattschwarzen Hintergrund. Der Gesamteindruck ist sowohl rustikal als auch luxuriös. Das Innere des Kyusu bleibt unglasiert.
Da es sich um ein vollständig handgefertigtes Stück handelt, kann die Kapazität leicht variieren, da keine zwei Stücke gleich sind.

Junzo Maekawa (前川淳蔵) is the son of a certified traditional craftsman. He is the fourth generation owner of Kenzan Kiln (賢山窯). Born in 1976, he is one of Tokoname's younger kyusu craftsmen, and also trained as a potter in Kyoto and Seto. These influences can be seen in the pieces he has produced since returning to his roots in Tokoname, giving the intrinsically traditional pieces a fresh and inspirational feel.
Junzo Maekawa (前川淳蔵) ist der Sohn eines zertifizierten traditionellen Handwerkers. Er ist in der vierten Generation von Kenzan Ofen (賢山窯). Er wurde 1976 geboren und ist einer der jüngeren Kyusu-Töpfer in Tokoname, der auch eine Ausbildung zum Töpfer in Kyoto und Seto absolvierte. Diese Einflüsse sind in den Stücken zu erkennen, die er seit seiner Rückkehr zu seinen Wurzeln in Tokoname herstellt, und verleihen den an sich traditionellen Stücken ein frisches und inspirierendes Gefühl.

🔸常滑焼 TOKONAME-YAKI - A tradition of quality
Tokoname (常滑) is located near Chubu International Airport in southern Nagoya, Aichi Prefcture. High quality earthenware has been produced here since the 12th century, and still now, Tokoname is a center of pottery production in Japan.
Tokoname is one of Japan's six most important ancient kiln towns - the others are Bizen (備前), Echizen (越前), Seto (瀬戸), Shigaraki (信楽) and Tanba (丹波) - had the largest output of ceramics of any kiln town in the Edo Period (1600-1868).
In particular, Tokoname used to be the main production site for ceramic water pipes. In modern times, it is known around the world for its ornaments such as tea sets and beckoning cats.
