We have a wording "Hare no Hi" in Japanese. The origin of the word "Hare" is '晴れ' (fain day, sunny weather).

Festivals, ceremonies, weddings, coming-of-age ceremonies, entrance/graduation ceremonies, etc. are collectively used as "Halle no hi". There are special meals, songs, kimonos, etc. dedicated to this day.

 

"Hare" means celebration and "tsutsumi" is to wrapping in Japanese. So, is the "Hare-Tsutsumi Furoshiki" perfect for special occasions, auspicious days, day to celebrate, and to convey your "congratulations" feeling. The representative colors are red and white or gold and silver for Japanese auspicious event. It was designed a wrapping cloth that celebrates Hare no hi with a message in these symbolic “color” The composition is another feature of this series.

🔸"Ichimatsu" - Checkered, Navy

A checkerboard pattern is called "Ichimatsu Monyo 市松模様", and the continuous checkered pattern is designed using the "Shikakutori" composition (squares of different colors and patterns are combined with each other). This pattern has existed since ancient times in Japan, can be also seen on clay figurines in archaeological sites and on dyed textiles of treasures at Horyuji Temple. Even today, it is often used for kimono designes.
