Oribe stacked square boxes - Oribe Alzwecks Stapelschale
The small square serving dish with a lid in 2-tier from Seto ware has a beautiful oribe green glaze. On the sides are motifs of maple and plum blossoms, symbols of spring and autumn, which were hand-painted by Shozan Kiln in Seto City, Aichi Prefecture.
The motif is drawn using the "Sabi-e (錆絵 rust painting)" technique, also known as "Tetsu-e (鉄絵 iron painting)" because it uses pigments containing rich iron oxide. The coloration varies depending on the thickness of the glaze and the iron oxide content, resulting in a brown to dark brown hue (oxidation firing).
Square in shape, about 10 cm in diameter, and about 5 cm high at one level, it is suitable for uses such as side dish, pickle, spice, candy serve, or small articles container. It would make a unique piece of tableware in your home.
Die kleine quadratische Schale mit Deckel in 2-Etagen aus Seto-Ware hat eine wunderschöne oribegrüne Glasur. An den Seiten befinden sich Motive von Ahorn- und Pflaumenblüten, Symbole für Frühling und Herbst, die von Shozan Kiln in Seto City handbemalt wurden , Präfektur Aichi.

Seto-Yaki (瀬 戸 焼) pottery from the city of the same name, Seto, north-east of Nagoya in Aichi Prefecture, has a tradition of ceramics production going back more than 1000 years and is one of the most important locations of the traditional kilns in Japan.
Because it is a handmade product, each item is unique. There may also be colour differences and pattern misalignment, as well as inclusions and drips in the glaze. These are characteristics of the manufacturing process and should not be considered a defect.
