The magnificent Byobu screen "Dragons and Tigers" is one of the most important works of the Kano School's Kano Sanraku (1559-1635) and designated an Important Cultural Property.
The original is a pair of 6-paneled Byobu, with a typical "dragon and tiger" scene, tigers on the left screen and a dragon on the right. This miniature version, based on the right screen of the original, depicts a dragon descending from the sky with a swirling storm and diagonal lines, expressing a sense of speed and dynamism.
The Kano School was the greatest and most successful of all the Japanese schools of painting. It was founded in the Muromachi period and representatives continued until the end of the Edo period and even beyond.

Die prächtige Byobu-Prevant "Drachen und Tiger" ist eines der wichtigsten Werke des Kano Sanraku (1559-1635) von Kano-Schule und wurde als bedeutendes Kulturgut ausgezeichnet.
Das Original ist ein Paar 6-teiliger Byobu, die eine typische "Drachen-und-Tiger"-Szene darstellen, mit der Tigern auf der linken Seite und einem Drachen auf der rechten Schirm. Diese Miniaturversion, die auf dem rechten Schirm des Originals basiert, zeigt einen herabsteigenden Drachen vom Himmel mit einem wirbelnden Sturm und diagonalen Linien, die ein Gefühl von Geschwindigkeit und Dynamik ausdrücken.
Die Kano-Schule war die größte und erfolgreichste aller japanischen Malereischulen. Sie wurde in der Muromachi-Zeit gegründet und ihre Vertreter blieben bis zum Ende der Edo-Zeit und sogar darüber hinaus bestehen.
