Shishi is an imaginary creature that looks like a lion. It is believed to have the power to get rid of evil and plague. Typically, shishi lions come in pairs and act as guardians. In Japan, shishi statues were placed in front of shrines, paired with komainu (guardian dogs) to ward off evil.
The Kutani ware Shishi lion is highly regarded for its unique and powerful stylised beauty as a representative of Japanese coloured porcelain. It should be a great gift to yourself or for your loved ones.

In the style of the fearless Shishi, this mythical lions bear a ferocious expression, lively standing on two hind feet, holding a pierced red and gold ball in its front paws. Their large bushy tails and curly hair swirl emphatically in golden paint and look like rising flames.

The 21st century white porcelain guardian lion has gold flame-like hair, furrowed brows, claws out as it leans on a pierced red and gold ball. The shishi-lion is completely hand painted by Kutani ware artisan and has a maker's mark underneath.

SHISHI WEISS - mit Quastenschwert
Kutani weißer Shishi-Löwe in wilder Pose mit einem quastenbesetzten Schwert zwischen den Zähnen.
Die Wächtertierfigur aus weißem Porzellan des 21. Jahrhunderts hat goldenes, flammenartiges Haar, gerunzelte Brauen und ausgestreckte Krallen, während sie sich auf eine durchbohrte rot-goldene Kugel stützt. Painting Technique "Mori (盛) "
Unique painting technique often used in Kutani's ornaments such as lions and beckoning cats. Three-dimensional patterns and textures are expressed using a special high-viscosity paint, resulting in a bold and stimulating product.

Die Maltechnik "Mori (盛)"
Stilvolle Maltechnik, die oft in Kutani Porzellan Objekte wie Löwen und Lucky cat verwendet wird. Dreidimensionale Muster und Texturen werden mit einer speziellen hochviskosen Farbe ausgedrückt, was zu einem kühnen und anregenden Produkt führt.
Die Farbe wird ausgepresst und verziert, so wie man eine Torte mit Sahne verziert.
