🔸Iga-yaki Tea cup "shironagashi vidro" 100ml, Matsumoto Oh

【 Product Type: Yunomi, Iga-yaki ware 】

Handcrafted by Iga-yaki artisan Matsumoto Oh (松本 央), this classically rustic cup is turned from highly ferruginous clay. The Vidro glaze and charred dark brown spots, which are the characteristics of Iga ware (伊賀焼), are impressive.

It shows beautiful Yohen (窯変) kilin reaction from high firing on a delicate ash glaze. The kiln-colour-change resulted in gorgeous colors in many earthy greens and great sequences with beautiful craquelure. The stunning green vitreous glaze is called vidro glaze (ビードロ釉) among common ash glazes. This is a natural glaze formed when the ash from the pine tree firewood used as fuel falls on the cup during kiln burning and then melt.

The textures of the pottery is somewhat rough, but it is turned pleasantly thin-walled. Matsumoto's work is characteristically minimalist, lightweight and textural - each piece inherently individual. Simply beautiful.

◆General caution - The photos show various examples.

The pieces are intricately handmade on the potter's wheel. In places, delicate colour gradients, any shading, small glaze tears, irregularities or speckles, might be possible. The pieces are all slightly different from each other because the result depends on the firing and some shades occur randomly.

◆Allgemeine Hinweise - Die Fotos zeigen diverse Beispiele.
