This elegant teacup set comes from the renowned Shouhou (昇峰窯) workshop in Kyoto.
Fine, clear engraving lines depict scenes along an autumn riverbank: maple leaves float on the water, grasses sway gently in the wind – a wealth of detail that radiates calm and harmony. The overall picture is rounded off by the refined, shiny glaze in an elegant violet.
The name ‘murasakino’ refers to a historic district in Kyoto. During the Heian period, it was an imperial hunting ground; it got its name from the purple dye plant that grew there, which was used for the coveted dye ‘murasaki’. This special history is reflected in the colour choice of the cups.

Der Name „murasakino“ verweist auf ein historisches Viertel in Kyoto. Zur Heian-Zeit war es ein kaiserliches Jagdgebiet; seinen Namen erhielt es von der dort wachsenden violetten Färberpflanze, die für den begehrten Farbstoff „Murasaki“ verwendet wurde. Diese besondere Geschichte spiegelt sich in der Farbwahl der Tassen wider.

Shouhou Itō – Ceramic Career
He trained under his predecessor, Shouhou.
In 1989, he inherited the kiln. His main focus is porcelain, through which he creates a wide range of vessels characterized by delicacy and refinement. He continuously pursues innovative techniques, and his works with soft-toned Kōchi glazes are especially well received.

Shouhou Itō – Keramischer Werdegang
Er erlernte sein Handwerk unter der Anleitung seines Vorgängers Shouhou.
Im Jahr 1989 übernahm er die Werkstatt. Seitdem widmet er sich vor allem dem Porzellan und schafft ein breites Spektrum an Gefäßen mit feiner Ausstrahlung. Stets ist er auf der Suche nach neuen, originellen Techniken. Besonders seine Arbeiten mit zarten Kōchi-Farbglasuren erfreuen sich großer Beliebtheit.
