The expertly crafted hiragata kyusu (flat teapot) by sought-after Tokoname artist Teruyuki Isobe is decorated with green décor and further ornamented with an "Inka" (印花 - stamped flowers) pattern with a white slip inlay.
This extremely small and flat kyusu is light weight, and thin-walled, making it challenging to stamp the tiny flowers by hand into the clay body of this kyusu. This exquisite and beautiful workmanship, as well as the artist's patience and mastery of his craft, have earned him a large following among tea masters around the world.
The wider, flatter shape helps extract umami from high-grade Sencha, Gyokuro, or Kabusecha by providing space for the leaves to unfurl even with little water.

Hiragata-Teekanne mit weißer Blumenprägung

Die kunstvoll gefertigte hiragata-Kyusu (flache-Teekanne) des gefragten Tokoname Künstlers Teruyuki Isobe ist mit grünen Bändern Dekor sowie mit einem "Inka"-Muster (印花 - gestempelte Blumen) mit weißer Slip-Inlay verziert.
Diese äußerst kleine und flache Kyusu ist leicht und dünnwandig, was es anspruchsvoll ist, die winzigen Blüten einzeln von Hand in dieses Kyusu-Tonkörper zu stempeln. Diese exquisite und wunderschöne Verarbeitung sowie die Geduld des Künstlers und die Beherrschung seines Handwerks haben ihm eine große Anhängerschaft unter den Teemeistern in aller Welt eingebracht.
Die breitere, flachere Form hilft dabei, Umami aus hochwertigem Sencha, Gyokuro oder kabusecha zu extrahieren, indem sie den Blättern Platz bietet, sich auch mit wenig Wasser zu entfalten.

This piece was made by Teruyuki Isobe (磯部輝之), one of the world's most talented and sought-after Kyusu artisans.
While continuing to produce traditional teapots, he is known for his unique style and incredible skill at making lightweight kyusu. In particular, he is best known for his "Inca" (印花 - stamped flowers) designs.
Born in 1938, Mr. Isobe has been devoted to the traditional craft from an early age, and honed his skills at the well-known Takasuke workshop (高資陶苑) for 53 years, before leavinv to make kyusu under his won name. Today, he is earning his spot as one of the most exalted kyusu craftsman.

Dieses Stück wurde von Teruyuki Isobe (磯部輝之) gefertigt, einem der weltweit talentiertesten und gefragtesten Tokoname-yaki Kyusu Kunsthandwerker.
Während er weiterhin traditionelle Teekannen herstellt, ist er auch für seinen einzigartigen Stil und seine großartige Technik bei leichten Kyusu bekannt. Besonders bekannt ist er für seine charakteristischen "Inka"-designs (印花 - gestempelte Blumen).
Herr Isobe, geboren 1938, dem traditionellen handwerk schon früh zugenegt, und verfeinerte seine Fähigkeiten 53 Jahre lang in der renommierten Töpferei Takasuke-Werkstatt (高資陶苑), bevor er seinen eigenen Brennofen zu eröffnen. Seitdem hat er sich als einer der besten heute tätigen Kyusu-Töpfer etabliert.

🔸常滑焼 TOKONAME-YAKI - A tradition of quality
Tokoname (常滑) is located near Chubu International Airport in southern Nagoya, Aichi Prefcture. High quality earthenware has been produced here since the 12th century, and still now, Tokoname is a center of pottery production in Japan.
Tokoname is one of Japan's six most important ancient kiln towns - the others are Bizen (備前), Echizen (越前), Seto (瀬戸), Shigaraki (信楽) and Tanba (丹波) - had the largest output of ceramics of any kiln town in the Edo Period (1600-1868).
In particular, Tokoname used to be the main production site for ceramic water pipes. In modern times, it is known around the world for its ornaments such as tea sets and beckoning cats.
