Kokutani originated between 1655-1658, Saijiro Goto learnt Arita pottery and made first attempt in Kutani. It lasted about 40 years, and the style during this 40 years is called Kokutani. 

Baked in Kutani village, the style expresses the semiabstract design using the five colors of blue (green), yellow, red, purple, kutani blue.

 

It was influenced by the Kano school, painted with lively and free lines, characterized by a bold design and exquisite colour scheme.

Yunomi Teacup "Ko-Kutani, Kachoō"

Japanese Yunomi teacup "kokutani kachō" feautures flowers and birds from nature with delicate brushing touch. Hand-painted in five colors (Prussian blue, green, yellow, purple, and red) of "Gosai" kutani color, it is the one of the most traditional style of Kutani Ware.

 

Die japanische Yunomi-Teetasse "kokutani kachō" zeigt Blumen und Vögel aus der Natur mit einem zarten Pinselstrich. Handbemalt in fünf Farben (Kutaniblue, Grün, Gelb, Violett und Rot) der "Gosai" (Kutani 5-Farbe), ist es einer der traditionellsten Stile von Kutani-Ware.
