Denpei Kiln has been manufacturing ceramics in Arita since the late Edo period using their unique own tunnel kiln. The characteristic styles of products which are highly popular in Japan, can be seen in its contemporary taste. It is a unique and easy style, plus the brilliant and dignified style, which requires skillful brushwork. Denpei's craftsmen are producing these plates with wishing happiness for users.

Here are five particularly great examples. All tableware is hand crafted, hand painted and painstakingly kilned. It's small but has a substantial presence, which will be a decorative accent for your dining table. Recommended using as a plate for soy sauce, seasoning, and also ideal for chopstick rest.
In addition, they are all stackable and allow for compact storage. The patterns and shapes are a regardless of the season, so it is useful for decorating and everyday use.

Beautiful and impressive shades of blue

This product is created using a technique called "sometsuke" that painted under the glaze. Sometsuke tableware has been worldwide popular as “Blue and White”. Traditional but unique sometsuke tableware will color into our life.

 

Denpei's unique sometsuke plate consists of three tiny flower-shaped plate of different sizes and colors each. It has beautiful contrast of blue and white, a gentle gradation like watercolor painting. In addition, by arranging and combining several plates side by side, to form a large one (see 1st picture above). Create various hospitality scenes depending on your ideas!

◆ Mamezara "Otesho-zara" - Origami -


Traditional form since the Edo period

Known variously as "oteshozara", "teshozara", or "otesho" depending on the region, these palm-sized plates got their name from the fact they were once used to serve salt at Japanese meals. In the Edo period, otesho plates were made from Arita porcelain in a myriad of shapes, adding an elegant aesthetic to the dining table. It is a very popular and loved item for many collectors.

 

Now Denpei's craftsman has reproduced Edo period otesho plates in the modern age with original styling.
The form is like an origami piece made by folding a sheet of paper.  A simple and elegant design with a rose on the side.
